Garden Soil

Designed for new gardens, perennial flower beds, raised garden beds and planter boxes. It’s nice and crumbly. It is a blend of 50% mineral/soil with a sandy loam texture and 50% compost by volume. This blend has been screened to remove rocks larger than 3/8″. It supplies everything your flower beds, raised bed vegetable gardens, and planters need. The garden soil has the compost you need for nutrient content and drainage for raised beds or boxes. If you are looking to get started with an all-around blend, this is the soil for you!
Topsoil

Designed to establish new lawns. It is a blend of 70% mineral/soil with a sandy loam texture and 30% compost by volume. This blend has been screened to remove rocks larger than 3/8″. Easy to spread and level as it is a topsoil created from scratch and screened. No large rocks or grass clumps, just great soil for starting your lawn off on the right foot!
Compost

Used to provide organic matter and nutrients for vegetable gardens, annual and perennial flower beds. This compost has been screened to remove pieces bigger than 1/2″. Available this year: SSO Compost made from residential organics. Our current supply of compost is Nutri-lime. Nutri-lime is a newly approved and registered (by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency # 201861D) blend of our regular compost with 10% Cement Kiln Dust (CKD). CKD is a by-product of cement manufacturing and it helps draw moisture out of the pre-screened product, making it easier to fine-screen to remove contaminants such as plastic, metal and rocks. It also has the added benefit of being a liming agent and can therefore help increase the pH of our acidic Atlantic soils. Our compost is super rich and high in nutrients, great for mixing into existing gardens for an added boost of nutrients and lime. It can also be used to topdress existing gardens and flower beds.
MULCH
Fine Bark Mulch

This attractive, easy-to-handle smaller bark mulch helps retain soil moisture while providing good weed and erosion control, as well as adding organic matter as it breaks down over time. Perfect for around small sensitive perennials. Should be applied at a depth of 4-6″. Renew with a top layer of bark every couple of years.
Coarse Bark Mulch

Economical solution for weed control and soil erosion. Place at a depth of 4-6″ for excellent weed control. Beautiful on pathways and patios, it has many other decorative uses. Can be used on fairly steep slopes. Last up to 3-4 years
